Cross-Harbour Tunnel
The Cross-Harbour Tunnel, which opened in 1972, is Hong Kong's first vehicular tunnel, providing a crucial road connection between Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, with a total length of 1.86 kilometers. Since its inauguration, the Cross-Harbour Tunnel has consistently been the busiest and most frequently used tunnel in Hong Kong, accommodating an average daily traffic volume of over one hundred thousand vehicles.
Cross-Harbour Tunnel has installed a TOA voice evacuation system that complies with the EN 54-16 European regulation. This system not only meets basic broadcasting requirements but also ensures clear communication during emergencies, enabling personnel in the tunnel to evacuate safely.
